Blyk: free texts and calls. This just may be the deal of the year

The best thing about being young is the lack of bills that mum and dad always grumble about paying. Well, that was true until mobile phone contracts came along and all of a sudden, the younger generation understood why forking out a monthly amount from your hard-earned pay packet warranted a good five minutes of over-exaggerated sighing. All is not lost though, as I’ve come across a new site that offers free calls and texts for people aged 16-24, meaning you may not need to do all of that overtime spent staring at the slow tick of a clock any longer.

If you are one of the fortunate to fit into this age bracket, the guys over at Blyk will send you a SIM card with 217 free texts and 43 free minutes to any UK network. This tops-up automatically with this same free amount every month. If all of this isn’t enough for you to organise your next pool party, you can purchase more credit at the pretty standard rate of 10p/text and 15p/minute. Top-up £5 or more in a month and you will also receive and extra 150 free texts on your next refill. Budgeting and keeping in touch with friends just got a whole lot easier!
So where’s the catch with this deal? Well you need to be willing to accept a few ads sent to you, but this is limited at 6 brand messages per day. The messages will be catered to your interests, and are free for you to receive and respond to (if they catered to your interests that well!) These brand messages will only ever come from Blyk to prevent privacy issues. From the number of ads I see everyday on bus stops, on TV and radio and even on my cereal box; six more really isn’t bad and I have to confess, I’m a sucker for hearing my SMS tone beep for my attention!

If you’re interested in this deal, you will need an unlocked phone with MMS capabilities as brand messages are sent as colourful pictures (at least they won’t bore the pants off you). If you’ve still got that Nokia from the mid 90s, the Blyk shop does offer a range of new, shiny phones to choose from.
With the price of living constantly on the increase, I am on the hunt for every bargain I can possibly get and I know all of my friends are on a similar quest. Blyk’s deal with no contract and no minimum top-up means that there really doesn’t seem to be any harm checking-out the Blyck website either for yourself or for the teenager in your life.

Rumor:PSP Chotto Shot Overheat

Their words flying around saying that the PSP add-on camera aka the Chotto Shot could overheat and spontaneously combust which means burst ~ caught fire. They believed it could melt off all your saves game in the memory stick as well. Hmm… Is that real? I have friends using it for a long time, it seems working pretty well. However, if it does burn, please do not forget to share with us.

Miniature Olympics Stadium-the village version

The China’s Olympics stadium also known as the “Bird’s Nest”, cost around $500 million and took 7 years to build. The stadium fits in 91,000 people and will host both of the opening and closing ceremonies, and also all of the athletic events for the 2008 Olympics.
Besides that, it has also inspired some Chinese villagers in Hangzhou city to make a smaller and cheaper version of the bird nest stadium. 10 bamboo master used 1,000 pieces of bamboos to build a Miniature Bird’s Nest stadium in the village. They have completed it in 2 weeks time. They also plan to organize some sports events in that nest such as beach ball, bow shooting, loop rolling, etc. Coo!
