The electronic Day to Night Baby Log

I haven’t ever had any kids, but I have noticed how incredibly chaotic newborns have a tendency to be. With all of their screaming and pooping, then of course the sleeping and eating it’s tough to keep track of all the little details. Come time to go into the doctor you might need to mention something about an oddly timed feeding, but by the time you get there it’s difficult to remember those things. Especially since you’re likely sleep deprived anyway. Well this Day to Night Baby Log is an electronic device meant to help record all of the important little details, be it for the doctor or just as a book to look back on years from now.

I’m sure the difficult part would be trying to remember to enter in those details or finding time to try to recall the feeding times you accidentally never entered. However, the electronic device that comes with the book has a few extras to help assist you in entering times and dates. It shows date and time as well as having a timer if you need to time how long Jr is napping for. To pick one up it will cost you $39.

Flatshare Fridge for the shared refrigerator

For those of us who have ever lived in a shared space know the sheer terror of the shared refrigerator. Not only do you go to your fridge to find that the food that you have been saving has miraculously vanished, but roommates tend to leave food in the fridge for so long, that even a forensics team doesn’t want to touch it.

Designer Stefan Buchberger used to live with a “dirty fridge in a shared flat”, so he invented a device called the Flatshare that allows roommates to share a fridge while keeping their individual space.

The Flatshare has a base station as well as four stackable modules that fit together like puzzle pieces. This makes the Flatshare very easy to transport when moving. The user has the option of putting colorful skins or a whiteboard on the modules.

The Flatshare is one out of nine finalists in the Electrolux Design Lab 2008 competition. This is the sixth year of the global contest, which has had 600 entries from 49 countries this year.

Considering that I have seen the Flatshare on several other gadget blogs, but no sign of the others in this Electrolux competition, I can only assume that the Flatshare is looking like the winner this year. If it does win, then perhaps the Flatshare will be in many a shared home in the future.

Memorex miniMove portable boombox

ust like millions of other iPod owners around the world, you are daily flooded with news of new iPod accessories, and if you haven’t yet selected an iPod speaker dock or boombox of sorts, you’re definitely spoiled for choice. There are literally hundreds of options available, but don’t simply go plonking down your hard earned cash on any model as the manufacturer’s brand name certainly has a part to play. Memorex might not be at the forefront where iPod accessories are concerned, but their miniMove portable boombox is worth looking into as it attempts to merge both form and function in a single device.

The Memorex miniMove debuted on the catwalk during New York fashion week late last week, although it has not been officially unveiled just yet. For those who are interested to know what the miniMove is all about, you will realize at first glance that this looks more like a futuristic purse than anything else, boasting a high-fashion design silhouette that has an integrated handle, making the task of toting your miniMove and iPod around a snap without looking overtly dorky. In addition to playing tunes off your iPod on the go, the miniMove also doubles up as a charger whenever your beloved iPod is docked within. Other features include an integrated digital FM radio for moments where you’ve actually run out of songs to listen to on your iPod, station presets, a line-in headphone jack for more private listening sessions, and a wireless remote control for folks who prefer to use the miniMove as a speaker dock at home instead.

Being highly portable means you don’t have to remain tethered to a power outlet at all times, but do make sure you have a healthy collection of rechargeable AA batteries to go along with the miniMove whenever you’re outside since you want to minimize the environmental impact at the same time. Each miniMove portable boombox will come in black, silver or pink colors and will retail for $49.99 when it ships this October. Why not surprise your girlfriend/wife with this chick-friendly accessory?

Boxing Skeleton ball point pen

With Halloween coming around pretty soon, you will find a whole slew of commercial items released to celebrate this holiday. Among them is the Boxing Skeleton ball point pen, where pressing its button will automatically cause its eyes to glow red while boxing away, hoping to score a TKO on whoever is in its path. Something to while away the long and boring hours at the office, no doubt. I wouldn’t use this to place my John Hancock on official documents in the corporate boardroom though. Strangely enough, the pen itself costs $2.49 but the shipping fee is a whopping $5.
