Miniature Olympics Stadium-the village version

The China’s Olympics stadium also known as the “Bird’s Nest”, cost around $500 million and took 7 years to build. The stadium fits in 91,000 people and will host both of the opening and closing ceremonies, and also all of the athletic events for the 2008 Olympics.
Besides that, it has also inspired some Chinese villagers in Hangzhou city to make a smaller and cheaper version of the bird nest stadium. 10 bamboo master used 1,000 pieces of bamboos to build a Miniature Bird’s Nest stadium in the village. They have completed it in 2 weeks time. They also plan to organize some sports events in that nest such as beach ball, bow shooting, loop rolling, etc. Coo!

Beijing 2008 olympic games

I love the date today 08-08-08. That’s about nine hours to go from now, to the Opening Ceremony of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad at the National Stadium in Beijing ~ yes, it’s on 8/8/08 at 8 p.m. because 8 is a symbol of prosperity in Chinese culture.

The ceremony officially will begin when Chinese President Hu Jintao is received at the entrance of the stadium by the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Jacques Rogge, and by Liu Qi, president of the Beijing Olympic Committee (BOCOG).
