Stash Reef Sandals

Unless you’re going to the beach with a larger group, you are going to run into a problem: you are in the water, while your stuff is not; how do you enjoy your swim without being wo

rried it will get stolen?

Tip #1. Don’t take anything unessential with you. Yes, the camera can stay home. No, thieves don’t steal beach towels. Tip #2. If you have money, hide it well. A wallet is obvious and easy to find; look for alternatives. My low-tech solutions is taking very little money and throwing it inside the beach bag. But (if I didn’t hate flip flops) I would get the Stash Reef Sandals.

The idea is brilliant: they have a little “drawer” inside the sole where money, credit cards or keys can be stashed. I’ve never ever heard of shoes being stolen from the beach, so your valuables would be much safer than anywhere else. High quality footwear that’s more than just a pair of flip-flops? Win.

(Reef are not on their first pair of smart sandals, either. We had the Dram Sandalsearlier this year - booze on the go!)

How much under $29.99? Exactly $29.98 on IslandSurf.com (white/grey version only, the rest $46).

Pedi Paws makes nail cutting a snap

Folks who own a dog or cat will know that not all animals from both species are obedient enough for you to handle various body parts of theirs without shifting uncomfortably or even biting/scratching you. Enter the Pedi Paws, a device that ought to make life a whole lot easier.

Pedi Paws gently and painlessly trims pet’s nails. The secret is the innovative rotary emery bands that gently remove thin layers of nail without the pain of traditional clippers. Protective cap catches the filings for easy cleanup. It’s fast, easy and saves on visits to the groomer! Precision high speed motor operates on two C batteries (not included), cordless, to use anywhere!

Why not make grooming time with your pet a whole lot easier with Pedi Paws? After all, surely $19.98 is not too high a price to ask for your beloved pet’s well being?

Lightmate gives you something to snuggle with

Some of you may remember when we reported on the 2D Girlfriend, also

known as the INBED, a projector that affixes to the ceiling an

d projects an image of a sleeping body

in your bed. Of course, some of you might want an artificial sleeping partner that is a bit more three-dimensional, and that’s why the LightMate was invented.

The LightMate is basically a large pillow with a few warming lamps which are presumably there for the user to feel that he or she is snuggling with a warm body.

Judging from the comments that were posted on the INBED article, there will no doubt be comments on this article saying that the LightMate is “creepy”. My only response to that is this: if you are actively pretending that some inanimate object is a sleeping partner, then yes, that is creepy. However, I know a lot of people who sleep with a body pillow, and nobody thinks that is disturbing, but a simple channeling of our snuggling instinct.

Unfortunately, what designer Francesca Lanzavecchia was attempting with the LightMate was that she wanted to create “soft anthropomorphic pillows”. For those of you who don’t know what anthropomorphic means, it is “the attribution of human form, human characteristics, or human behavior to nonhuman things”.

In this case, it applies to act of pretending a pillow is a sleeping mate. Of course, this is what designer Lanzavecchia was trying to do by creating “a mate to hug or a huge companion you can lay on”. Okay, that’s a little creepy, and I think I’m going to quit now.

CD Boom Box with AM/FM radio

I wondered if this goes with the DVD player the other day, as both has about the same pinky floral design. It is a Pink & white CD Boom box with soft-touch carry handles. It plays CD, CD-R and CD-RW and theirs input for MP3, digital audio and personal CD players. You can get one for $30.

…the one on the right is the DVD player I’m talking about, they are similar, aren’t they?

iPhone to Control R/C Car (Video)

Tow guys from the Czech Republic, 18 year old Josef Průša and his brother, has come up with a cool way to control an R/C car using the iPhone and its built-in accelerometer.

It has five buttons, four of them you can use for traditional driving and when you press the last one, it unlocks the accelerometer control in the same way as in many driving games available on AppStore.

Here’s a video showing the iPhone-controlled car in action:
